Santa Julia

Santa Julia is owned by the Zuccardi family whose story began in 1950 when engineer Alberto Zuccardi, with a background in pipe production, moved to Mendoza to create an irrigation system which he felt would be ideal in the dry desert-like conditions of the region.

Convinced of its success, in 1963 he started buying land and planting his own vineyards in Maipú, a few years later building his own winery to vinify his grapes. His son José then joined the business and began opening up export markets to sell the wine they were now bottling. Santa Julia winery was begun in 1982 and produces the bulk of Zuccardi's wines with a new winery in the Uco Valley given oveer to higher level wines. José’s son Sebastián joined in 2000, and took the lead in taking quality to the next level. In all the family, with their Uco Valley winery too, have over 1000 ha of vines and export over half their production.
