Vintage Port 2024

Deep obsidian purple core with a narrow mulberry rim. The nose bursts with powerful woodland fruit, layered with rich blackcurrant, dark plum and ripe cherries that leap from the glass. Subtle notes of black cherry interwoven with delicate hint of rose petal. The fruit shows elegance and restraint. On the palate, it reveals remarkable freshness and energy with an appealing precision and lift. Lavendar and gentle herbal tones all complement the flavours of damson and plums, building steadily to a long and persistent finish.

The Warre’s signature of softer fruit and a floral character comes from the principal Quinta da Cavadinha and Quinta do Retiro sites - high altitude Cima Corgo vineyards of great age, producing concentrated wines of great freshness.

We expect big things from Vesuvio in this release, a powerhouse Port that often shows a more vinous side of the style which should make for a great combination with the nature of 2024.

Deep purple black with fine magenta rim. The heady, aromatic nose displays a characteristic plentitude of rich plump fruit, ripe strawberry and the exotic notes of rockrose, spice, clove and eucalyptus, signatures of Quinta da Roêda from where the blend heralds. An avalanche of exuberant fruit then coats the palate with discreet and well poised tannins. An elegant and aromatic Vintage Port, perfectly poised with opulence and restraint.

Graham’s is renowned for having a plumper, sweeter signature, a softer mouthfeel, based on the great Quinta do Malvedos and Quinta do Tua opposite from the eastern end of the Cima Corgo.

Dow’s is a powerful, structured style, the wines have great concentration and a tell-tale pepperiness ahead of a dry finish. Quinta do Bomfim, Quinta Senhora da Ribeira, and Quinta do Santinho make up the principal sources. This usually needs time and is a very long-lived Port.

Wonderfully perfumed from the off, displaying notes of blackberry, raspberry, leafy cassis, rock rose and a touch of Douro schist. A menthol-like lift is accompanied by notes of rosemary and crushed dark flowers, leading to a juicy and tantalising, rather vinous-palate. There is real sense of precision here, this very fine in terms of structure and balance and it is full of potential.

Characteristically stylish and racy, with a nose of dense blackcurrant and woodland fruit, overlaid with delicate herbal nuances and scents of rose petals and violets. The Taylor elegance and understatement conceal the wine’s energy and vigour. On the palate, lean, tightly knit, sinewy tannins, beautifully balanced with vibrant and delineated fruit flavours and herbal notes, produce a stylish wine with the unmistakable Taylor combination of stamina and refinement.

The palate is rich and luscious with taut tannins, texture and polish that coat the palate with hints of exotic wood, wild herbs and Hemingway mint. Succulent, concentrated woodland fruit, pairs wonder- fully with the racing acidity and refreshing bright finish.

A blend of wines from ten distinct plots, presenting a deep color and a fine, expressive nose, marked by black cherry, wild berries and violets, with notes of rockrose, redcurrant, spices and a slight hint of cocoa. On the palate, it is full-bodied and concentrated, with firm but polished tannins, balanced acidity and a remarkable purity of fruit. Precise and harmonious, it shows a freshness that gives it definition and balance. The finish is long, elegant and persistent, revealing depth, delicate notes of dried flowers and evident aging potential.

Only produced in the very best vintages, there will be very little in 2024. The Stone Terraces is sourced from two blocks at Malvedos. An old vine field blend supported by some younger plantings, producing wines of great opulence.
