Château Lafon-Rochet, 4e cru classé Saint-Estèphe 2022 En Primeur - Case of 6

£210.00

One of the last wines we tasted, so plenty to judge it by, and comparisons are good. Plenty of black fruit, some robust tannins and a chunky presence overall, with richness and ripeness coming through on the palate. Fine oak on the finish, this is firm but succulent and should age well. 5-15 years.

Château Lafon-Rochet

This estate was purchased by the Tesseron family, who made their money in Cognac, in the 1950s and is now run by Basile Tesseron.

The 40 hectares were re-planted and decisions made to harvest later, use more Merlot fruit, and increase to 40% new oak in the 16-18 months cask ageing which have resulted in much more impressive wines. There is a new cellar too and this is one of the most innovative, go-ahead properties in Bordeaux. You can't miss the bright yellow château either, on the left hand side shortly after passing Cos d'Estournel as your head north.

About En Primeur

Lying Abroad/En Primeur/In Bond Wines

Wines offered ‘Lying Abroad’ or ‘En Primeur’ provide a good way to secure some of the most sought after wines at opening prices. In addition we ensure it is the cheapest way to buy favourite mid-priced wines from Bordeaux, Burgundy and the Rhône, so please ask us for our offers or check our website for latest reports. Prices are clearly marked in our sales literature and are exclusive of duty, shipping, marine insurance and VAT. Shipment of claret and Port normally takes place around 30 months after the vintage, burgundy and Rhône usually more quickly. A second invoice for the duty, shipping, marine insurance and VAT on the value of the wine is charged at the time of shipment - view current duty rates. There are no further charges for deliveries to a UK mainland home or work address. Your Lying Abroad purchases are covered under The Bunch Code of Practice which can be sent on request or viewed here.
