Château Tronquoy, Saint-Estèphe 2023 En Primeur - Case of 6

£99.00 Sold Out

Much more focus on Tronquoy has occurred in recent times, possibly as the team at owner Montrose realise what a gem they have here. They have chopped off the 'Lalande' part of the name, improved the branding and bolstered the winemaking. The results are excellent. In 2023 this part of Saint-Estèphe struggled with early rain, but the late heatwaves pushed the ripeness right up. The nose is perfumed with blackcurrant, blackberry and raspberry notes. The palate shows soft, round, bold fruit, sweet and concentrated with a clean, stony finish. A lovely, approachable wine. 3-9 years.

Château Tronquoy

Château Tronquoy has a vineyard spanning 30 hectares in the heart of Saint-Estèphe. The origins of the estate date back to the 18th century but, after several different owners, it was acquired by Martin and Olivier Bouygues in 2006.

Today it shares much inspiration and winemaking with Château Montrose although it is run as a separate entity. Unlike its neighbours, 52% of the vineyard is planted with Merlot: Cabernet Sauvignon only accounts for 39%, followed by Petit Verdot (6%) and Cabernet Franc (3%). The planting density is 9000 vines per hectare.

About En Primeur

Lying Abroad/En Primeur/In Bond Wines

Wines offered ‘Lying Abroad’ or ‘En Primeur’ provide a good way to secure some of the most sought after wines at opening prices. In addition we ensure it is the cheapest way to buy favourite mid-priced wines from Bordeaux, Burgundy and the Rhône, so please ask us for our offers or check our website for latest reports. Prices are clearly marked in our sales literature and are exclusive of duty, shipping, marine insurance and VAT. Shipment of claret and Port normally takes place around 30 months after the vintage, burgundy and Rhône usually more quickly. A second invoice for the duty, shipping, marine insurance and VAT on the value of the wine is charged at the time of shipment - view current duty rates. There are no further charges for deliveries to a UK mainland home or work address. Your Lying Abroad purchases are covered under The Bunch Code of Practice which can be sent on request or viewed here.
