Croft Vintage Port 2024 - Half En Primeur (Case of 12)

£324.00

ALC 20.5%

This wine is still to be bottled and as such the advertised ABV may be subject to change on its eventual arrival and inspection into the U.K.

Deep purple black with fine magenta rim. The heady, aromatic nose displays a characteristic plentitude of rich plump fruit, ripe strawberry and the exotic notes of rockrose, spice, clove and eucalyptus, signatures of Quinta da Roêda from where the blend heralds. An avalanche of exuberant fruit then coats the palate with discreet and well poised tannins. An elegant and aromatic Vintage Port, perfectly poised with opulence and restraint.

Croft

One of the oldest and most illustrious port houses, the company started trading in 1678, although it was not until 1736 that a merchant from York, John Croft joined the firm.

There are no Crofts involved in the firm today, but they maintained an affection for the wine and Percy Croft, who died in 1935, is credited with the famous words: "Any time not spent drinking Port is a waste of time." The company has been through several changes of ownership, but its future seems assured under the control of descendants of the Yeatman and Fladgate families.

About En Primeur

Lying Abroad/En Primeur/In Bond Wines

Wines offered ‘Lying Abroad’ or ‘En Primeur’ provide a good way to secure some of the most sought after wines at opening prices. In addition we ensure it is the cheapest way to buy favourite mid-priced wines from Bordeaux, Burgundy and the Rhône, so please ask us for our offers or check our website for latest reports. Prices are clearly marked in our sales literature and are exclusive of duty, shipping, marine insurance and VAT. Shipment of claret and Port normally takes place around 30 months after the vintage, burgundy and Rhône usually more quickly. A second invoice for the duty, shipping, marine insurance and VAT on the value of the wine is charged at the time of shipment - view current duty rates. There are no further charges for deliveries to a UK mainland home or work address. Your Lying Abroad purchases are covered under The Bunch Code of Practice which can be sent on request or viewed here.
