Resplendent Rosés - Half Dozen
Rosés have now firmly established their place on our tables and picnic rugs. Aided by some celebrity endorsements, Provence has capitalised royally, and you will note Tanners brand new Provence Rosé has just been launched (details in the Summer Tanners News, in case you missed it!) but there are plenty of great alternatives from around the vinous globe including from these shores. For those looking for a little more flavour in their rosé then Spain, in the form of Paso Primero and the New World, where Tom Doran is producing some super characterful rosé in South Africa, can offer great choices. There are also fine examples from the Mediterranean coast such as Corbières, where Cendrillon makes an exquisite pink, and Sète where the uber fashionable region of Picpoul has its own rosé, Piquepoul – the former the name of the appellation the latter the grape! The trend has even reached these shores, where Folc sources grapes across the southwest of England from small family-run vineyards and blends them to create a very credible alternative to Provence’s best. As we roll into summer, make sure you have stocked up on your favourite!
