This wine is still to be bottled and as such the advertised ABV may be subject to change on its eventual arrival and inspection into the U.K.

Quite a pronounced herby edge to the nose. Very elegant and precise, this is a classic from Chevalier, not hugely powerful but sound, well balanced tannin and with finesse in the mouth. Pure plummy fruit with a lick of acidity in the finish, wants a bit of time to show it's best, but all the parts are there and the value is excellent.

Domaine de Chevalier

One of the very top Pessac-Léognan producers, Domaine de Chevalier is situated at Léognan and has been owned by the Bernard family since 1983. They undertook a long term project to improve the quality which has resulted in considerable improvements in both the vineyard and the chai.

The whole estate is over 100 hectares with 42 given over to vines, 37 to red and 5 to white, the red from Cabernet and Merlot, the white from 70% Sauvignon with 30% Sémillon, all grown at high density to help concentration and ripeness. It is the white which leads the way with Olivier Bernard considering that the small production is essential to maintain the quality. Enormous strides have also been made with the red which represents one of the best values from Bordeaux.

About En Primeur

Lying Abroad/En Primeur/In Bond Wines

Wines offered ‘Lying Abroad’ or ‘En Primeur’ provide a good way to secure some of the most sought after wines at opening prices. In addition we ensure it is the cheapest way to buy favourite mid-priced wines from Bordeaux, Burgundy and the Rhône, so please ask us for our offers or check our website for latest reports. Prices are clearly marked in our sales literature and are exclusive of duty, shipping, marine insurance and VAT. Shipment of claret and Port normally takes place around 30 months after the vintage, burgundy and Rhône usually more quickly. A second invoice for the duty, shipping, marine insurance and VAT on the value of the wine is charged at the time of shipment - view current duty rates. There are no further charges for deliveries to a UK mainland home or work address. Your Lying Abroad purchases are covered under The Bunch Code of Practice which can be sent on request or viewed here.
