Kumeu River Ray's Road Chardonnay, Hawke's Bay 2024 En Primeur - Case of 6

Flag of New Zealand NEW ZEALAND

This vineyard was purchased by Kumeu in 2017 and is seeing dramatic improvements as the new Chardonnay plantings on top quality clones come into play. The soil here is limestone, as opposed to the clay of Auckland, which brings a great zesty character, ideal for Chardonnay. The 2024 wine is richer than previous vintages with white and yellow fruit wonderfully balanced with saline, mineral acidity. Maturation is all in old oak barrels.

Kumeu River

The Brajkovich family have been involved in wine since 1944 when when Mick and Katé Brajkovich and their son Maté first came to the small country settlement of Kumeu, about 20 km north-west of Auckland City. Ever since then, the family have grown in-sync with the New Zealand wine industry and have established themselves as internationally recognised producers of world class Chardonnay.

About En Primeur

Lying Abroad/En Primeur/In Bond Wines

Wines offered ‘Lying Abroad’ or ‘En Primeur’ provide a good way to secure some of the most sought after wines at opening prices. In addition we ensure it is the cheapest way to buy favourite mid-priced wines from Bordeaux, Burgundy and the Rhône, so please ask us for our offers or check our website for latest reports. Prices are clearly marked in our sales literature and are exclusive of duty, shipping, marine insurance and VAT. Shipment of claret and Port normally takes place around 30 months after the vintage, burgundy and Rhône usually more quickly. A second invoice for the duty, shipping, marine insurance and VAT on the value of the wine is charged at the time of shipment - view current duty rates. There are no further charges for deliveries to a UK mainland home or work address. Your Lying Abroad purchases are covered under The Bunch Code of Practice which can be sent on request or viewed here.
