Bulleit Distilling Company

In the 1830s Augustus Bulleit, a tavern keeper in Louisville, Kentucky set out to produce unique bourbon, after a long period of experimenting he came up with Bulleit Bourbon. Tragedy struck when, whilst transporting barrels of his bourbon from Kentucky to New Orleans he disappeared never to be seen again.

In 1987 his great-great-grandson, Thomas E. Bulleit Jr, decided to revive his family’s bourbon legacy, leaving a successful law firm and starting up the Bulleit Distilling Company. Their high-rye whiskey, from 95% rye and 5% malted barley, mashed with Kentucky limestone filtered water and fermented with secret yeast strains, is aged in charred American oak, and matured to taste before bottling. It is bold and spicy yet distinctively smooth.
