MALBEC AROUND THE WORLD
Thriving in the sun-drenched vineyards of Mendoza, Argentine Malbec produces intense, supple and juicy wines that are approachable when young but also age gracefully. These crowd-pleasing styles have propelled the grape into the spotlight, making it one of the most fashionable choices on wine lists and shelves today
But Malbec’s story doesn’t begin in Argentina. It originates in France, where it was once widely used in Bordeaux blends. Today, it’s more commonly found in South-West France, especially in Cahors, where it produces the famously deep and erstwhile tannic ‘black wines’. You will also find it in the Loire Valley, where it often goes by the local name, Côt.
