Cave Coteaux du Rhône

La Cave Coteaux du Rhône Sérignan-du-Comtat is a co-operative based at the medieval village of Sérignan du Comtat to the north east of Orange in the southern Rhône.

Founded in 1926 their 300 members have vines covering 1100 hectares in many of the villages including Massif d’Uchaux, Vacqueyras and Plan de Dieu with the main part of the production being in Côtes du Rhône and Côtes du Rhône Villages. All the local grapes, Syrah, Grenache, Carignan, Grenache Blanc, Roussanne, Viognier, amongst others are grown on the stony soil typical of the area and all the wines are made, and the élevage done, at the co-operative which has 13 full time employees. The winemaker is Marc Thomas who is very up to date in his methods, harvesting by night and by parcel and using appropriate vinification methods for different parcels. Originally much was sold in bulk and from the cellar door but the bottled wine and export trade is increasing due to the excellent price quality ratio that can be found here.
