Château Olivier, grand cru classé Pessac-Léognan 2023 En Primeur - Case of 6

£120.00

This is a magnificent medieval château complete with restored drawbridge over a wide moat. You can imagine the knights of the tourney charging up the tilt ground in front, maybe to secure a barrel of this excellent red Pessac. Enough of the whimsy, Olivier has made a sweetly fruited and vibrant wine in 2023 with lashings of red plum and raspberry, a fine backbone of tannin, a joyfully juicy centre and the cutting edge of a clean finish. Definitely worth fighting for some. 5-15 years.

Château Olivier

Château Olivier was an old seigniory dating back to the middle ages, where it is said, the Black Prince used to visit to hunt in the forests hereabout. Since the 19th century it has been owned by the Bethmanns, an old Bordeaux Family. Jean-Jacques de Bethmann is the current owner and has overseen a considerable improvement in the quality here. A classic mix of tried and tested techniques and the most modern thinking are applied in the winery and the vineyards, where they produce both red and white wines.

About En Primeur

Lying Abroad/En Primeur/In Bond Wines

Wines offered ‘Lying Abroad’ or ‘En Primeur’ provide a good way to secure some of the most sought after wines at opening prices. In addition we ensure it is the cheapest way to buy favourite mid-priced wines from Bordeaux, Burgundy and the Rhône, so please ask us for our offers or check our website for latest reports. Prices are clearly marked in our sales literature and are exclusive of duty, shipping, marine insurance and VAT. Shipment of claret and Port normally takes place around 30 months after the vintage, burgundy and Rhône usually more quickly. A second invoice for the duty, shipping, marine insurance and VAT on the value of the wine is charged at the time of shipment - view current duty rates. There are no further charges for deliveries to a UK mainland home or work address. Your Lying Abroad purchases are covered under The Bunch Code of Practice which can be sent on request or viewed here.
