Flag of Scotland SCOTLAND

A big peaty nose with whiffs of seaweed, heavy with heather and medicinal notes. The palate is oily and round, hugely peaty with seaweed and salt, finishing long and dry. Using very mossy peat, Laphroaig is a most distinctive malt.

Press Review

"If there is a Scotch malt whisky that can transport you straight to the shores of Islay, it is Laphroaig. Full of earthiness, salinity and an almost iodine note to the peat, there is a soft, sweet flavour behind. A hugely complex and satisfying dram."

Laphroaig Distillery

The Johnson brothers, who were local farmers, started the distillery in 1815 in a series of small cottages on the Kidalton shore in the south of Islay. The style is intensely peaty, almost medicinal with an oily body. Prince Charles has granted his Royal Warrant to the distillery.
