Château de Tracy

Château de Tracy is an historic property with over 600 years of winemaking history in the Central Vineyards region in the heart of France. Wine production at this ancient property can be traced back over 600 years.

Originally from Scotland, the Stutt family sided with Charles VII of France during the Hundred Years’ War. In 1586 Françoise Stutt married the Lady of Tracy. It wasn’t until the end of the 19th century that the vineyards became organised and the property started to sell Château de Tracy wines. In the 1950s the vineyards were restored by Jacqueline de Tracy and her husband Comte Alain d’Assay. Their younger daughter Juliette runs the estate today. There are 33 ha of vineyards all run on environmentally friendly grounds, they have level 3 (the highest) Haute Valeur Environnementale (HVE) certification from the French government. All the vineyards are planted with Sauvignon Blanc. The vineyards are on gentle slopes overlooking the Loire with a south-west exposure. The wine is vinified in a mix of 600hl concrete and stainless steel vats and the lees are regularly stirred to add weight and richness to the wines.
