Quinta do Vesuvio Vintage Port 2023 En Primeur - Case of 6

£288.00

75cl ALC 20%

Wonderfully pure, leading with a creamy, dense nose of classic blue/black Douro fruits, schist dust and resinous herbs, and lavender. The attack offers a gorgeous sweetness, fantastic concentration, great energy, and plenty of freshness, resolving to an elegantly balanced back palate of long pure dark fruit flavours. Vesúvio often has a savoury vein, but this is a touch easier and more charming than the 2022 release.

Quinta do Vesuvio

A legendary 325 hectare estate in the upper Douro, Vesuvio was purchased in 1823 by António Bernardo Ferreira who built hundreds of terraces and an impressive adega over a thirteen year period.

It was António’s daughter-in-law, Dona Antónia, who consolidated the estate’s fortunes and considerable reputation. By the 1970s, despite its fame, the estate’s wines had become somewhat anonymous, and it is only under the stewardship of new owners, the Symingtons, that its fortunes have been revived. Vesuvio’s Ports are still trodden by foot in the quinta’s eight huge lagares. The estate has many single variety vineyards and, for the 2007 vintage, launched two table wines, alongside the famous Vintage Port.

About En Primeur

Lying Abroad/En Primeur/In Bond Wines

Wines offered ‘Lying Abroad’ or ‘En Primeur’ provide a good way to secure some of the most sought after wines at opening prices. In addition we ensure it is the cheapest way to buy favourite mid-priced wines from Bordeaux, Burgundy and the Rhône, so please ask us for our offers or check our website for latest reports. Prices are clearly marked in our sales literature and are exclusive of duty, shipping, marine insurance and VAT. Shipment of claret and Port normally takes place around 30 months after the vintage, burgundy and Rhône usually more quickly. A second invoice for the duty, shipping, marine insurance and VAT on the value of the wine is charged at the time of shipment - view current duty rates. There are no further charges for deliveries to a UK mainland home or work address. Your Lying Abroad purchases are covered under The Bunch Code of Practice which can be sent on request or viewed here.
