Taste the Grape Syrah Half Dozen

A very pretty nose with plenty of violet notes, more intense on the palate with ripe raspberry and plum fruit. A lovely juicy freshness on the finish provides balance and there are ripe tannins already well integrated before a long satisfying finish.

A wonderful Syrah from California, inspired by the wines of the northern Rhône valley. Full flavoured, packed with blackberry and cherry fruit with hints of black olive and notes of pepper.

From the St Joseph hillsides, the Vin de France labelling belies the quality of this cuvée. Full of black cherries and plums with notes of spice and leather. It is tightly structured yet balanced with an appealing fruitiness and silky tannins.

This has aromas of blackberries with hints of cinnamon and white pepper leading to a softly fruity palate with ripe wild strawberry flavours. Long, fresh finish.

This producer makes some beautiful wines from indigenous varieties that are well worth checking out. I particularly love this cool climate Syrah which is definitely more Northern Rhône than Barossa Valley. An elegant wine with beautiful black cherry and strawberry fruit on the palate, there is also black pepper, sweet spices and cinnamon. It has a lovely long finish and the tannins are soft and velvety. You could easily enjoy this wine on its own or paired with a delicious meal. Howard Hutchins, Wine Sales Advisor

A big, soft-hearted, enjoyable wine, plenty of ripe Shiraz fruit with loads of character on the palate and a full-flavoured finish.

We can't be certain what views Andrew Margan gets from his house; hopefully they're as stunning as this wine. Black berry fruit meets smoky bacon and wait for those soft, silky tannins to kick in. Pure velvet and a great view!
