Starting in 2005 as a side project for winemaker and founder John Raytek, the team took the plunge in 2011 to make Ceritas a full-time project and have made it their mission to produce single vineyard wines that truly reflect the terroir of the northern California coastal regions. With a compact winery in Healdsburg, Ceritas do not own their own vineyards but work closely with trusted growers to ensure the vines are farmed along biodynamic lines. John believes that ""biodynamic farming methods, and focussed and site-specific attention, give the vines the greatest opportunity ... to yield grapes with unmistakable flavours and smells of their time and place.
The focus is on Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon with fruit sourced throughout the Sonoma Coast and the Santa Cruz Mountains. Winemaking is flexible yet simple rather than dogmatic, to allow outstanding fruit to shine through with traditional techniques. The finished wines are energetic, elegant and have style reminiscent of the finest Burgundies and left bank Bordeaux's.
