Château Desmirail

"Château Desmirail is a third growth situated in Cantenac towards the southern end of the Margaux appellation. Ut takes its name from the Desmirail family who owned it up until just before this 1855 classification. In 1980 it was purchased by Lucien Lurton who passed it on to one of his 10 children, Denis, in 1992. The property now consists of four plots, three in Margaux ( Cantenac, Soussans and Arsac) and one in Haut-Médoc, comprising 40 hectares in total on deep gravelly soils. Cabernet Sauvignon accounts for 50% of the area, Merlot 40% with Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot making up the rest. Sustainable growing is practiced with no chemical herbicides and insecticides, and the property has been HEV certified since 2018. Wine making is traditional in oak vats which were installed in the 19th vat room in 2010 with gently extraction and ageing is in oak, about 50% new for a year. The resulting wines are classic Margaux with elegance and length"
