Cline Cellars

Cline Cellars is lies in Carneros to the Southwest of the Napa Valley, and also maintain vineyards in Oakley, about 40 miles East of San Francisco. Fred Cline is the driving force behind Cline Cellars having studied Agricultural Management at UC Davis.

The winery was set up with money inherited from Fred’s grandparents, his maternal grandfather was an immigrant from northern Italy who came up with the idea for therapeutic spa baths, his name... Jacuzzi. About three quarters of the estate’s 350 acres is under vines. The warmer vineyards in Oakley are planted with Zinfandel, the cooler Carneros site with Syrah, Viognier and Mourvèdre. The estate has been farmed on principals "beyond the industry standard of Organic" including the avoidance of chemical pesticides, fungicides and fertilisers. They use organic cover crops maintained in the vineyards by sheep, special composts and other preparations. The estate is also a tourist destination having extensive grounds, wildlife and over 5,000 rose bushes.
