Château Ducru-Beaucaillou
Bought in 1941 by Francis Borie the estate is now run by Bruno Borie. He has overseen a huge degree of modernisation and the wines now have the depth and concentration to add to the poise and elegance. It was at Château Ducru-Beaucaillou that Bordeaux mixture (an antifungal mixture of copper(II) sulphate and slaked lime used to control fungi including downy and powdery mildews) was invented back in the early part of the 20th century. This is very much one of the 'super second' properties.
