Glengoyne Distillery

Glengoyne must rank as one of Scotland’s most picturesque distilleries. It can be found in the Southern Highlands just north of Glasgow at the foot of the Campsie Hills, in the Glen Guin or the Glen of Wild Geese.

It was officially established in 1833 though had been illegally distilling for many years prior to that. In 1876 it was purchased by the Lang brothers of nearby Glasgow, in the 1960s it was under the stewardship of the Edrington group and since 2003 it has been owned by Ian Macleod distillers the suppliers of Tanners Peaty Creag and Pulling’s Gin. In 1984 the whiskies were awarded a royal warrant and supplied to the Queen Mother’s household. Due to the position of the distillery it crosses the boarder between Highland and Lowland meaning the whisky is distilled in the Highlands but aged in the Lowlands.
