McPherson Wines

McPherson Wines was established by Andrew and Nicki McPherson in 1968. The winery and ultra-modern bottling plant is at Nagambie, Central Victoria. Olivia Forbes makes elegant, balanced, modern Australian wines with care and attention that is second to none. McPherson owns 225 ha of vineyards across two major vineyard holdings: the 85 ha Croftwood Vineyard in the Murray Darling region and the140 ha Sinclair Vineyard in the Goulburn Valley. Other grapes are grown at higher altitude in the Strathbogie Ranges, and, as the company has expanded, they also source fruit from vineyards across Victoria by partnering in long-term relationships with like-minded vignerons across the state.

There are various ranges in the extensive portfolio: XV Pure features red wines from pristine Australian vineyards supplied with pure water from the nearby, free-flowing Murray River. Environmentally-sound vineyard practices and grapes grown in vibrant sandy loam soils combine to make these super premium wines. Rich, full bodied and vibrant, the XV range wines are classic Australian reds.

McPherson is now controlled by Alister Purbrick of nearby Château Tahbilk, famous for perhaps Australia’s best Marsanne.
