Tinta Amarela

Tinta Amarela is a traditional Portuguese red grape, most closely associated with the Douro Valley, but also known as Trincadeira across the south of Portugal. Long cultivated in Portugal, it is valued for aromatic lift and structure, particularly in blends. The grape produces medium-bodied wines with lively acidity and firm tannins, showing flavours of red berries, plum and spice, often with herbal and slightly earthy notes. Tinta Amarela adds complexity, freshness and ageing potential to both Port and dry red wines.
