Our Taste the Grape Half Dozen offers the opportunity to sample six different styles from across the world, all made from the same grape variety, providing insight into its unique character and versatility.
PINOT NOIR AROUND THE WORLD
Pinot Noir, one of the world’s most celebrated and enigmatic red grape varieties, originates from Burgundy, France, and is prized for its delicate nature and complexity. Known for its thin skin and climate sensitivity, this capricious grape thrives in cooler regions like Burgundy, Champagne, Oregon, New Zealand and Germany, where it produces light to medium-bodied wines with bright acidity, fine tannins and typical flavours of red cherry, raspberry are complemented by earthy, floral notes. In warmer climates like California, it reveals riper fruit expressions such as black cherry and plum. Pinot Noir is also key to Champagne production, particularly in ‘Blanc de Noirs.’ Its versatility makes it an exceptional food companion, pairing well with dishes like roast duck, salmon, mushroom risotto and soft cheeses. From charming, seductive styles to bold, fruit-filled expressions, each bottle showcases Pinot Noir’s captivating complexity.
