Drambuie Liqueur Company

Legend has it that following the battle of Culloden in 1746 Bonnie Prince Charlie fled to Skye and was offered sanctuary by Captain John MacKinnon who was then rewarded with the recipe for Drambuie. Historians seriously dispute this version of events claiming it was made up to sell more drink! Today it is produced by the Drambuie Liqueur Company in West Lothian and it has been commercialised since 1910. Originally it was thought to have medicinal properties.
